KIBECO TALK 2023 in Basel
Concrete, as we use it today, consumes too much energy and resources and leaves an immense carbon footprint. However, building materials have great, previously untapped potential to help protect the climate. Imaginative solutions are needed that promote new product life cycles, innovative material cycles and environmentally friendly production processes.
On May 18, 2022, the Federal Council adopted the report "CO₂ capture, storage and negative emission technologies". Among other things, it describes an action plan that focuses on CO₂ storage technology in concrete. Sustainable building materials that contribute significantly to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions are a top priority for the Federal Council's long-term climate strategy and are not only necessary in terms of climate policy; they also offer Switzerland the opportunity to play a pioneering role.
The KIBECO talk will be opened by Government Councillor Esther Keller. Afterwards, join experts from industry, politics and research as well as the driving forces behind up-and-coming start-ups such as Oxara, neustark and FenX for an aperitif riche to discuss climate policy, innovations in the construction industry and the raison d'être of the most widely used building materials at the moment.
