What is KIBECO®?
The construction industry is changing - and we are helping to shape this change. KIBECO is the driver for circular building materials at KIBAG and stands for innovative solutions. We develop and promote materials that reduce emissions, conserve resources and make the construction industry fit for the future.
KIBECO is more than just sustainability - we are a platform for innovation. Together with start-ups, research partners and the industry, we put new building material technologies into practice. Our goal? Building in cycles, finding ways to reduce CO₂ and using alternative products.

Innovations that change construction
KIBECO is a platform for innovations that change the construction industry. We offer visionary start-ups and young companies the opportunity to further develop and realize their circular and resource-saving ideas for the construction industry. This allows synergies to be exploited that enable KIBAG to play a more active role in promoting the circular economy. The focus here is on reducing CO2 emissions and on regenerative construction.

More than circular economy
KIBECO Talk at the opening of Baustoffcity
On Friday, we celebrated the official launch of Baustoffcity Weinfelden together with a specialist audience - including our inspiring KIBECO Talk on the circular economy.
National Councillor Manuel Strupler shed light on the political framework and opportunities for a sustainable construction industry, Leonie Isler from Oxara presented pioneering building material innovations and artist Bob Gramsma gave us fascinating insights into how he uses concrete to create creative and tangible works of art. Lively discussions ensued, which showed that The future of construction is recyclable!
The opening of Baustoffcity impressively demonstrates how the circular economy, innovation and practice come together to make the construction industry sustainable.

YOND Campus
With the YOND Campus, Swiss Prime Site is creating a dynamic location for urban commercial use on the Albis site in Zurich by 2027. The building will use 1,500 m³ of KIBECO MIGROX Oulesse, a completely cement-free lean concrete made from mixed demolition granulate.
SPS is thus consciously focusing on CO₂-reduced and circular construction

Fastned
New fast-charging stations for electric vehicles from the provider Fastned are currently being built in Kloten - a project in which KIBAG is heavily involved. In addition to the construction work, KIBAG is also supplying sustainable building materials from its own production, which actively contribute to reducing CO₂ emissions.
KIBECO RECO concrete, a cement-reduced concrete that also permanently binds CO₂, and the completely cement-free lean concrete KIBECO MIGROX Oulesse have already been used.

Greencity
The pioneering Greencity district is currently being built on the site of the former Sihl-Manegg industrial wasteland in Zurich South. A diverse area with a clear focus on sustainability is being developed on an area of around eight hectares.
KIBECO supplied 11,800 m³ of KIBECO concrete fumigated with CO₂ for the current construction phases. KIBECO concrete permanently stores ten kilograms of CO₂ per cubic meter. With a quantity of 11,800 m³ of concrete, this corresponds to a stored quantity of 118 tons of CO₂. This CO₂ was permanently removed from the atmosphere and stored in the recycled building material. By way of comparison, it would take around 9,440 mature beech trees to store the same amount of CO₂.
At the same time, the concrete meets all the high quality and performance requirements.
