Strategic partnership between ETH spin-off Oxara, KIBAG and Holcim strengthens sustainable construction practices in Switzerland
Oxara, KIBAG and Holcim Switzerland are pleased to announce their collaboration to expand the production and distribution of Oxacrete Oulesse®, the cement-free and patented binder from Oxara. This partnership combines innovation, technical know-how, industry experience and market presence to establish Oxacrete Oulesse® across the Swiss construction market. This milestone demonstrates how Oxacrete Oulesse® can be used to make the construction industry more sustainable by promoting the reuse of deconstruction materials and closing loops. This innovative approach can significantly reduce the environmental impact of construction materials and serve up to 10% of the Swiss concrete market.

Growing partner ecosystem in the construction industry
Cement production accounts for around 5% of annual greenhouse gas emissions in Switzerland. The collaboration between Oxara, KIBAG and Holcim addresses the urgent need for scalable, circular and decarbonizing technologies. After validating the Oulesse® technology and evaluating the market potential of this solution, Oxara, KIBAG and Holcim are now planning to officially enter the market together.
KIBAG, one of Oxara's first partners, is a leading Swiss company in the building materials and construction sector. Building on its tradition as a family business and known for its innovations, KIBAG is committed to the development of sustainable building materials with its KIBECO brand. KIBECO is a platform that develops new approaches to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in collaboration with start-ups. According to Christoph Duijts, CEO of KIBAG, "this collaboration underlines the commitment to promoting sustainable practices in the construction industry."
As one of the leading providers of innovative and sustainable construction solutions in Switzerland, Holcim also emphasizes the importance of the partnership with Oxara and KIBAG. Holcim can draw on more than 30 years of experience in the circular economy and closing resource cycles and sees itself as a driver of the circular economy in Switzerland. "This partnership is a further step towards realizing our sustainability goals," says Clemens Wögerbauer, Head Commercial and Sustainability at Holcim Switzerland. "We have visionary and innovative partners at our side who fit perfectly with our mission: To combine circular economy with decarbonization."
Sustainable alternative for resource-saving construction
Oxacrete Oulesse® offers the construction industry the opportunity to minimize its ecological footprint and increase resource efficiency. Oxacrete Oulesse® is manufactured using deconstruction materials and the binder offers a low-carbon alternative to conventional cement. The technology therefore promotes the circular economy while reducing the environmental impact of construction. "The combined expertise and resources of our partners will enable us to scale our technology effectively and make sustainable construction practices more accessible in the Swiss market. Together, we want to promote resource efficiency and thus contribute to achieving Switzerland's net-zero targets," say Gnanli Landrou and Thibault Demoulin, co-founders of Oxara.
