Where does the CO₂ that is permanently trapped in our KIBECO concrete come from?

 

The CO₂ can be sourced 100% from the Swiss atmosphere thanks to ARA Bern. The CO₂ required by ARA Bern is actually a waste product from the production of biogas. The biogas is produced through the biodegradation of biomass, such as sewage sludge or organic residues, whereby CO₂ is extracted to refine the gas. This is then liquefied and delivered to our production facility by Salzmann AG Transporte with biogas-powered trucks in a climate-neutral manner, where it is then permanently stored in the recycled concrete.
